The Walter Southwest occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 840 metres on a south-southwest–facing slope, north of Francois Lake and approximately 3 kilometres south of the south end of Tercer lake.

Regionally, the area is underlain by felsic volcanic rocks of the Eocene to Oligocene Ootsa Lake Formation (Nechako Plateau Group) and andesitic volcanic rocks of Upper Cretaceous Kasalka Group.

Locally, an outcrop of siliceous and weakly argillic-altered rhyolite hosts quartz veining and breccia with limonite and pyrite.

In 2016, a rock sample (TKN-97) assayed 0.014 per cent molybdenum, 0.184 per cent lead, 20.3 grams per tonne silver and 0.173 gram per tonne gold, whereas a subcrop sample (TKN-98), taken approximately 150 metres to the north-northwest of the previous sample, yielded 26.9 grams per tonne silver and 0.237 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 36611).

Work History

During 2013 through 2019, Kootenay Silver Inc. completed programs of prospecting, hand trenching, rock sampling and a geophysical (magnetic) analysis of data on the area as the Walter the Water Buffalo property.
